Varsity Outreach partners with colleges, universities, and other organizations and programs (hereinafter referred to as "Partners") to provide this community. We license the community to our Partners for use in promoting and marketing their programs to community members. We are not affiliated with the Partners, and you will need to check with the Partners regarding their privacy policies.
Registration and Optional Information
In order to use the community, a user must have an active Facebook account and add the community via the Facebook website or share a password upon registering for logging into the community. Registration requires a user to provide a first name, last name, and email address. Optional information, such as city, state, country, test scores, majors, activities, etc. may be provided at the discretion of the user in order to access the various search options and community features.
Varsity Outreach does not share or sell any personally identifiable data with any additional third parties, except as outlined below.
Varsity Outreach may share personal information about site users with third parties if doing so is 1) appropriate to carry out a user's request, 2) reasonably necessary to offer the service, 3) reasonably believed to be legally required, or 4) is in Varsity Outreach's interest to protect its property or other legal rights or the rights or property of others.
A cookie is a small piece of text that our web server stores on your computer or mobile device, which your browser sends to us when you return to our site. Cookies do not necessarily identify you if you are merely visiting the community; however, a cookie may store a unique identifier for each logged in user. The cookies Varsity Outreach sets are essential for the operation of the community and are used for performance or functionality. By using our community, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your computer or device. If you disable your browser or device's ability to accept cookies, you will not be able to log in or use the community.
Third-Party Authentication Services
Varsity Outreach allows users, if they choose, to register and log in to the community using select third-party authentication services (such as Facebook and LinkedIn) instead of using a password. Your use of these third-party authentication services is completely optional, and you may remove these as authentication options in your settings.
These third-party authentication services may collect information about your usage of the community, including logins. Additionally, this information may be used by these third parties in their own services for purposes such as ad targeting and measurement services. We recommend you review the data policies of these third-party authentication services prior to using them to register and log into the community.
Third-Party Audience and Traffic Measurement Services
Varsity Outreach uses Google Analytics as a third-party tracking and measurement tool. However, we do not pass along any information that a user shares upon registration or in the user’s profile with this tool We use this tool to monitor overall usage of the community and to help improve the experience and performance of the community, including which features users are accessing and how users are navigating throughout the community.
Google Analytics gathers certain simple, non-personally identifying information over time, such as your IP address, browser type, internet service provider, pages visited, time stamps, and similar data about your use of the community. We do not link this information to any of your personal information.
Certain pages and features in the community may set third-party cookies. As an example, we embed outside content, such as videos from YouTube, that may set a cookie. We do our best to minimize any third-party cookies, but we may not be able to control cookies set by third-party content, embedded in the community.
Varsity Outreach does not track your online browsing activity on other online services.
Varsity Outreach gathers aggregate data about services utilized. This information does not contain any identifying information. This data is collected by Varsity Outreach for internal purposes so that we can improve our offering; it may also be disclosed to prospective partners and third parties, as well as for other lawful purposes.
Changing or Removing Information and Data Retention
Varsity Outreach offers the ability for users to change or remove information via the Edit Profile option. Users who wish to deactivate their account in a particular community may do so in the Account Settings area.
Deactivating your account in a selected community will not affect your account on other communities operated by Varsity Outreach.
Varsity Outreach retains information provided in a user’s profile for as long as an account is active or as needed to provide a user our services. We do not automatically delete information for deactivated accounts.
If you would like Varsity Outreach to delete your account in this community, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will remove all personally identifiable information from your account.
Varsity Outreach and its Partners do not knowingly request or collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. This community is not intended for or designed to be used by anyone under 13 years of age. If you use our service, you represent that you are 13 years of age or older.
Varsity Outreach recommends that minors obtain the permission of their parents before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.
Varsity Outreach has security measures in place to help protect against the loss, misuse and/or unauthorized alteration of the information under our control. You are the only user authorized to update your account, unless you provide your password information to another party. Varsity Outreach helps protect your identifying information with both online and offline security, including firewalls, passwords, and restricted physical access to the server where your information is stored.
However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of such firewalls and secure server software. Varsity Outreach is not responsible for the circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures associated with our communities or our services offered on other websites. No data transmissions over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently, Varsity Outreach cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make reasonable efforts to ensure security on our systems.
If Varsity Outreach learns of a security systems breach, we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. By using this website, or providing personal information to us, you agree that we can communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy, and administrative issues relating to your use of this website and Varsity Outreach's services on other websites. Varsity Outreach may, in addition or alternatively, post a notice in the community if a security breach occurs.
Merger, Sale, or Other Change of Control
In the event that Varsity Outreach sells, assigns or transfers some or all of its business, Varsity Outreach may sell, assign or transfer all of your information to such successor or acquirer.
